Monthly Ketchup: August 2025

Monthly Ketchup: August 2025

Hello everyone! Welcome back to another exciting addition to the monthly ketchup series. Now that August is almost wrapped, here’s what happened this month.

Events

August had 2 street fairs in the second half of the month. The first one was the Kenton Street Fair. I did this event for the first time last year which ended up being really good, so naturally I had to come back. This year the event was just ok. Part of that was because of my booth spot. I ended up getting a corner spot and decided to change up my booth setup on the fly. I think this ended up being bad because people were only seeing half of what I had to offer. I was also positioned close to a bunch of food carts which caused people to pass me up for the delicious smells. Overall, I did ok. Not as good as last year. Also, I don’t think there were as many people that showed up. Maybe next year will be different.

The second street fair was the Hawthorne Street Fair. This was my 3rd year in a row doing this event and I ended up in the same spot as the last two years. Hopefully next year, I can try out a different location. Despite the 94 degree heat, the event was pretty good. Things were fairly steady until early afternoon when it dropped off due to the heat. Both of these events gave me the opportunity to make some booth upgrades to my freestanding grids which turned out well.

Projects
It’s been a busy busy month getting things ready for Rose City Comic Con, while also prepping for the 2 street fairs. I have a new batch of woodcut wall art in the works.

As part of my plan to refine my booth, I started working on a new booth sign. The previous sign is a little too big and the LED light broke. So both are good reasons to make something new and better. I should be able to get it done in time for the comic con… hopefully.

Drawings
I really love doing this weekly newsletter because it forces me to carve out time to draw each week. Here’s what I drew this past month.

The Rose City Comic Con is next week, so I gotta stay focused and keep working to get things ready in time!
