Monthly Ketchup: September 2025

Monthly Ketchup: September 2025

I’m a little late to posting this. Normally I post the ketchup the last week/first week of the month, but last week I was busy getting ready for an out of town event. So, I’m only 1 week late, which aint too bad!

Events
September is now behind me and it’s hard to believe I did the Rose City Comic Con and Orenkofest. A big event and a small event.

Rose City Comic Con was fun, as usual. I got to have a vendor friend as my neighbor which was great. I was also positioned right across the aisle from the Wacom booth which was awesome. They had quite a few guest artists drawing on the big screen. Plus I got to meet one of them and chit chat. In terms of sales, the Con was… not so great. It was very slow and the number of sales were quite low for how big this event is. I think it’s a variety of things. 1. I invested in an exhibitor booth which is positioned further away from the artist alley. Artist alley is a really big draw for a lot of people and once they make it through that section, it’s easy to miss me. 2. I think there are two main groups of people that come to the con: one is there for anime stuff and the other is there to show off their cosplay. Those 2 groups aren’t ideal for me since I sell original art. Fortunately for me, I was able to be profitable at this event, but I think next year, I’ll stick to the artist alley since the cost is lower. That said, I do appreciate everyone that stopped by my booth to chat and/or buy some of my art! It’s a great feeling knowing people love my art enough to buy it.

Orenkofest is tiny compared to Rose City Comic Con, but it was way more profitable and less demanding. I love doing this event because it’s also close to where I live and I still get regulars that seek out my art. The event was outdoors and the weather was great. I’ll definitely plan to be there again next year!

Projects
What have I been working on? Good question! This month was spent getting all the new art photographed and up on the website. So, no new art, but plenty of things happening in the background.

Drawings
Here are all the drawings I made for the month in between events and all the behind the scenes tasks.

The holidays are coming up and I’m working hard to prepare. I have 2 shows locked in for December and plans for new art as well.
